Obituary of Thain, James "Jim"
James (Jim) Thain, 83, passed peacefully at Prince County Hospital on September 30th, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
Born October 12, 1938 in Toronto, Ontario, he was the son of the late James and Geraldine Thain, predeceased by his siblings, Barb Chrest and John Thain.James leaves behind his devoted wife Sandra (Spinney) Thain, children Kym Thain, Summerside PE, Lisa (John) Peters, Sackville NB, Jim (Jane) Thain, Bedford NS, Susan (Eddie) Trail, Cascumpec PE, Steven (Stacy) Thain, Summerside PE, Tashia (Vernon) MacLeod, Albany PE, 13 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
James took pride in his time served in the Canadian Armed Forces as an Airframe Tech and later as a Flight Engineer for a total of 30 years. In retirement, James enjoyed his time curling, collecting stamps and had a passion of cooking for his family. Though he wouldn’t consider it a talent, James had a way of expressing himself through writing and has shared many of his stories with loved ones throughout the years.
The family would like to send a special thank you to all the staff from the emergency department and surgical unit of PCH for the wonderful care they gave to James during his short stay in the hospital. They would also like to thank Dr. Morash for going above and beyond to ensure our father/husband was comfortable.
Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside. At James’s request, there will be no service held. His family will share a memorial at their own discretion. Donations in memory of James can be made to the PCH Foundation.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
