Obituary of Dwayne Gary Paynter
The death occurred peacefully at Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I on Saturday, December 3rd, 2022 of Dwayne “Tom” Paynter of Kensington, P.E.I. aged 74 years. Dwayne was born in Freetown, P.E.I. to the late Leith and Ida (nee Gallant) Paynter.
Beloved husband of the late Edith Perry and loving father of Jennifer Perry (Joshua Longuepee), Steven (Gwyn) Bailey-Paynter and Marven (Shannon) Paynter. Also lovingly remembered by his 7 grandchildren Sara-Lynn, Melissa, Aiden, Leith, Carson, Adam and Emma. Survived by his brother and sisters Elaine (Cecil) Mosher, Carolyn (Terry) Watters and Allen (Pat Matheson) Paynter and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister Lorraine in infancy.
Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, until Wednesday December 7th, where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 10:00 a.m. Interment to take place in Freetown People’s Cemetery, Freetown

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
