Obituary of Bertha Cecilia McCabe
The death occurred peacefully at Andrew’s of Stratford on Sunday, December 4th, 2022 of Bertha Cecilia (nee Grace) McCabe, formerly of Middleton, P.E.I., aged 95 years.
Beloved wife of 69 years to George McCabe. Dear mother of Mary Alice (Lawrence) Rooney, Jean Ann (Alden) O’Brien, Betty Lou MacRae (Jerry) Baskey, Gerald (Sandy) McCabe, Gerard (Peggy) McCabe, Grace (Paul) Montgomery, Clare (Ryan) Woodrow. Also lovingly remembered by 17 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Survived by her sisters Theresa (J.B. deceased) MacDonald, Margaret (Pius deceased) MacNeil, Phil (Greg) Campbell and brothers Jerome (Marge deceased) Grace, Roddie Grace, brother in-law John Finnegan and sister in-law Cecilia Grace.
Predeceased by her parents Dan and Mary Ann Grace, son in-law Brian MacRae, brothers John (Claire) Grace, Donald Grace, Bernard (Kay) Grace and sister Marie Finnegan.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Tuesday December 13th, 2022, then to St. Malachy’s Church, Kinkora for a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. If so desired memorial donations may be made to P.E.I. Diabetes Association. Visiting hours on Sunday from 2- 4 p.m. Special thanks to all the staff, nurses, caregivers and physicians at Andrews of Stratford for the care, dedication and support given to Bertha.
ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
