Obituary of Charles Tuell Tanton
The death occurred peacefully at Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Thursday, March 2nd, 2023 of Charles Tuell Tanton of Summerside, aged 96 years. Charlie was born in St. Eleanors, P.E.I. to the late Stanley and Medora (nee Compton) Tanton. Veteran of World War II.
Beloved husband of the late Ramona (nee Lyle) Tanton and loving father of Keith (Natalie), Peter (Susan) and daughter in-law Wendy all of Summerside. Cherished grandfather of Garrett, Hollee, Nicholas, Matthew, Wylie, Sam, Ben and by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Predeceased by his eldest son Donald, brothers Eric and Fred (Flora), sisters Marion Dawson and Avis (George) Jack.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Tuesday, March 7th, where a funeral service will be held in St. John’s Anglican Church, Summerside at 1:00 p.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. If so desired memorial donations in Charlie’s memory may be made to St. John’s Anglican Cemetery Fund or Prince County Hospital Foundation. Visiting hours on Monday evening from 6 – 8 p.m.
ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
