Obituary of Gus Gaudet
The death occurred peacefully at the Stewart Memorial Home, Tyne-Valley, P.E.I. on Sunday, March 26th, 2023 of Augustine “Gus” Joseph Gaudet of St. Nicholas, P.E.I., aged 94 years. Gus was born in St. Nicholas, P.E.I to the late Anthony and Albina (nee Arsenault) Gaudet.
Beloved husband of Marie Gaudet and loving father of Pat (Terry) Downey, Sharon (Greg) Gaudet, Shawn Gaudet. Also lovingly remembered by his 3 grandchildren Mindy (Jeremy) McNeill, Emma (Scott) Coffey, Matthew Downey, and his great grandchild Cooper McNeill.
Survived by his brother and sisters Alcide (Helene) Gaudet, Gerard (Janet) Gaudet, Theresa Arsenault, Adrien, sister in-law Stephanie Gaudet and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his sisters Louise Gaudet, Lorraine (Howard) Raftus and Sr. Della Gaudet, brothers Lionel (Mary) Gaudet, Armand Gaudet, Reginald Gaudet and brother in-law Richard Arsenault.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Friday, March 31st, where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Miscouche at a later date. Donations in Gus’s memory to St. John the Baptist Cemetery Fund would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Thursday from 6 – 8 p.m.
Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 18 will hold a Legion Service on Thursday at 5:45p.m.
ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
