Obituary of Joseph Francis Doucette
Surrounded by family, the death occurred at the Prince County Hospital on July 13th, 2023 of Joseph "Francis" Doucette, of Summerside, aged 84 years. Born in St. Edwards, PEI to the late Ben and Catherine (nee Perry) Doucette. Beloved husband of Geralda Doucette and loving father of Wilfred (Diane) Doucette of Miscouche, Ivan (Barb) Doucette of Miscouche, Mary (Sam) Coughlin of Summerside, Janice (Chris) Bradshaw of Summerside, and Leo Doucette of Summerside. Loving grandfather of Alex Coughlin, April Doucette, Vanessa Doucette, Shane Doucette, Beoncia Wagner, Melanie Campbell, Dustin Goode, Devon Goode, Dylan Goode, and Angela Campbell. He will be missed by his 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Audrey Doucette and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by his parents, his brothers infancy; Benjamin, Joseph and Russel, and his daughter in infancy; Jamie. Also predeceased by his brother, sisters, and brothers-in-law: Rita (Henry) Hustler, Louise (Art) Arsenault, Edward Doucette, Doris (Alvin) Costain, and Josie (Wilfred) Doucette. Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Wednesday, July 19th then to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Miscouche for Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow the service in the St. John the Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Francis' Funeral Expense Fund would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Tuesday, July 18th from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
