Obituary of Bob Perry
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince Country Hospital on September 1, 2023 of Robert “Bob” James Perry, of Summerside, aged 78 years. Beloved husband of Guelda Perry (nee Sonier). Loving father of Michael (Beth) Gallant of Summerside, Robin (Bobby) Johnson of Summerside, Nicol (Charlie) Smith of Hunter River, and Vance Perry, Julie Perry, Trudy Perry, Leslie Perry, and Mary (John) Kahl all of Medicine Hat, AB. Also remembered by his many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Survived by his siblings June (Bill) Crawford of Prince George, BC, Gordon (Jeanette) Perry of Mount Uniacke, NS, Alvina (Dale) Ritchie of Mount Uniacke, NS, Joanne (Steve) Cochrane of Cole Harbour, NS, and Richard Perry of Halifax, NS.
Predeceased by his parents, Clifford and Bertha Perry, and his children Otis Perry and Colleen Gillis and brothers Russell Perry and Cedric Perry. Resting at East Prince Funeral Home until Wednesday, September 6th for a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment to take place at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Cemetery. Donations in Bob’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Tuesday, Sept 5th from 5:00-8:00 p.m.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
