Obituary of Vera Mary Helen Gallant
VERA MARY HELEN GALLANT
April 4, 1947 - December 14, 2023
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital on December 14, 2023, of Vera Mary Helen Gallant of Summerside, PEI, formerly of British Columbia, at 76 years of age.
Those who knew Vera know how strong and open she was in her faith.
Vera was born in Summerside to her parents Ted, and Julia (Arsenault) Gallant. Beloved wife of the late Frank Giesbrecht and loving mother of Vikki, Julie, and Philip Powers. Vera is survived by her brothers and sisters; Leroy (Natalie), Amanda Rolls, Mel, Janet (André) Brochu, Vince, Paula Williamson, and Victor.
Predeceased by her parents Ted and Julia (Arsenault) Gallant, brother, Richard, and her brother-in-law, Ron Rolls.
A funeral mass will be held at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church at 10:30 am on Monday, December 18, 2023, with a light reception to follow. No flowers please. Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. By family request, no visiting hours. In Vera’s memory donations to the PCH Foundation would be appreciated. Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside PE.
ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
