Obituary of Leona Mary Phyllis Gaudet
The death occurred peacefully at Prince County Hospital on January 10, 2024, of Leona Gaudet (Pineau) of Summerside aged 91 years. Leona was born in Hope River, PE to her late parents Mosie and Florence (Bell) Pineau. Beloved mother of Wayne (Noella) Gaudet, Donna (Ed) MacDonald, Phyllis (John) Doucette, Wendy (Wayne) McWhinney, and Mitchell (Crystal) Gaudet. Also lovingly remembered by grandchildren Terra (Jay), Scott (Danika), Rylan, Thomas, Patrick and two great granddaughters Brooke and Lennon. Remembered by several nieces and nephews. Survived by sister Shirley Clow and sister-in-law Julie Pineau. Predeceased by her parents, and her brothers Basel, Leonard, Francis, and Terrance “Terry”.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Monday January 15, 2024, where a funeral will take place in the chapel at 6:00 pm. Interment to take place at a later date. Donation in Leona’s memory to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Monday January 15, 2024, from 4:00 pm until time of service.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
