Family was everything to Sheila.

Over the years, she spent countless hours with her loved ones, from weekly Sunday dinners and birthday meals, to attending school concerts and graduations. She loved Christmas and decorating, could cook enough good food to feed a small army, and always found the most thoughtful, unique gifts.

Sometimes those gifts included hand-knit or sewn items, including the dish cloths that line the drawers of every family member.

Sheila and Vance also led an active social life and played cards every Friday night with friends for many years.

In addition to family and friends, Sheila was a steady churchgoer her entire life, attending Trinity United in Summerside each Sunday along with bible study.

She was a CGIT (Canadian Girls in Training) leader at Trinity, a UCW (United Church Women) member and volunteer for 30 years at the Prince County Hospital gift shop.

Over the years, she and Vance travelled the world during his time running Variety Tours, and the pair welcomed travellers from other parts of the world into their home.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

The wake will be from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at East Prince Funeral Home, and funeral will be Monday January 22, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Church.

No one was ever more strong or more caring.

We will love and miss you, Mom, Grammie, Great-Grammie — Sheila.
