Obituary of Ellen Morrison McLeod
MCLEOD, Gerda Ellen (Nee Morrison) Ellen McLeod passed away peacefully at Pacifica Senior Living on March 31, 2020, at the age of 90 in Ruskin Florida. She was born in February 25, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio, and was the daughter of the late Gerda Ellen Holman Morrison and the late Reginald Knight Morrison. Ellen was a computer programmer at the University of Ottawa in Ontario Canada. This is when computers took up an entire large room at the university. Ellen was a strong woman before that became common. She moved to Sacramento, California with her two youngest children on May 10, 1969, and married David James McLeod in Reno, Nevada. With her bright mind, she stood out and was hired by the state of California as a programmer and systems analyst. She moved up to become a micrographics printer specialist until she retired in 1990 when she and her husband relocated to Ruskin, Florida. Our beautiful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and cousin have given us so many years of love, comfort, laughter, sweetness and joy. She could fill the room with her personality and light it up with her smile. Ellen and David loved to travel and go on cruises. Growing up on Prince Edward Island, Canada, she looked forward to the summers she spent there with family and friends. Ellen was a great favorite among the cousins and as the eldest was the queen of the realm. Ellen truly loved her family. She was an awesome salad maker and great cook, avid reader, bridge player, and enjoyed bowling and crochet. Ellen was preceded in death by her husband Dave, her son Michael A. Gauthier, her daughter Paula C. Chastain Gauthier, her nephew, James Campbell, brother William H. Morrison, sister-in-law Shirley I. Morrison, and grandparents Eva Constance Wright Holman and grandfather Harry Tinson Holman. Ellen is survived by her adoring daughter Carolyn Gauthier (fiancé Ron), son Phillip Gauthier (Michelle), grandchildren Zachary, Maxx (their father Jerry Johnson), Tara Gauthier (Brian), Brandi Gauthier (Paul), Jason and Jeremyn (their mother Becky), Constance and Meghann (their mother Kelline), Stepdaughter Wendy Lavoie (Ron), step grandsons Kristopher, Timothy, Andrew, and Nicholas, and stepson Tom McLeod (Kathy). Great-granddaughter Nikki, Great-grandsons Brandon, Khristian, James, and Vinnie. Sister-in-law, Jocelyn Kennedy (David) and sister-in-law Diana Renaud (Paul). We wanted to thank the people she loved and that took so much care of her at the Pacifica Assisted Living. She really did like living there. Thank you to all.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
