Obituary of Joseph Allen Poirier
The death of J. Allen Poirier occurred peacefully at Prince County Hospital early in the morning of Tuesday August 20, 2024 with family by his side. Al was born in Summerside on October 23, 1937 to the late Raymond and Flora (Gauthier) Poirier.
Beloved husband of Patricia (McAlpine). Loving father to Anne-Marie (Caius) Kim and Cheryl. Beloved Poppa to Chloe and Caius.
Survived by sisters Marjorie Johnson and Johanne (Barry) Rowan, sisters-in-law Louise Poirier and Norma Arsenault and brother-in-law Gaylord (Edna) McAlpine, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by sisters Elaine (Fred) Dale, Audrey (Ernie) Arsenault, Evelyn (Gordon) Godfrey, Ruth Perry and brothers Lloyd (Henrietta) Poirier, Leo Poirier, Ken (Joan) Perry, Ray Poirier, brother-in-law Ronald Johnson and sisters-in-law Margaret Poirier and Luci Hornell.
A Service of Remembrance by 200 (Summerside) Wing of the RCAFA will be held on Wednesday August 28, 10am at the East Prince Funeral Home to be followed by a funeral mass at St. Paul’s Catholic Church at 11am. Internment immediately following at St. Paul’s Cemetery.
All are welcome to join the family for a reception at St. Paul’s after internment.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to The Alzheimer’s Society of PEI.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
