Obituary of Darryl Hugh Tracey
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Darryl Hugh Tracey, age 47, of Summerside, PEI, formerly of Little Judique, NS, which occurred on Sunday, August 25th, 2024 at the Prince County Hospital. Darryl was the youngest of six children born to the late Mary (Beaton) and the late Hughie Tracey. Darryl was a man who lived for his family. Everything he did was for them. He was a loving, devoted father to his son Alexander and an incredible husband to his wife Dawn. Darryl was a man who took pride in any job he did and he loved working as a cleaner at Three Oaks Senior High.
Besides his wife Dawn and his son Alexander, Darryl leaves behind his sisters: Karen (Willie) Murphy, Allison Tracey, Charlene (Burt) Peterson, Ellen (Rod) Wulff and brother Brian (Karen) Tracey, sister-in-law Megan (Jason) Bryan, and brother-in-law Brennen (Samantha) Ryan. Also survived by his nieces: Kaylan, Cassie, Callee, Darci, Seela, Kyla, Nevaeh, Ireland, and Emma, and his nephews: Ryan, Dylan, Mitchell, James, Morgan, Bailey, Kade, Harkin, Sorin, and Luke. He will also be missed by his uncles Harold and Jerome, and his aunts, Mary Jane, Florence, and Sally, as well as many cousins.
He is predeceased by both of his beloved parents Hugh and Mary Tracey, and both his maternal and paternal grandparents. Also predeceased by his sisters-in-law Amanda Ryan-Delorey and Bonnie Jean Tracey, his aunts Helen Jean, and Catherine, and his uncles John Francis, James, and Murdock.
We, the family, would like to extend our sincerest thanks to the AMAZING staff at the Prince County Hospital for the care and compassion you have shown not only to Darryl but to us as well. It will never be forgotten. We would also like to send a special thank you to Dr. David Antle, Island Respiratory Specialists, Dr. Maryse Williston, and the Transplant team at Toronto General for being part of Darryl’s care and treatment.
Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd, Summerside, Cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral service by personal request. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, August 30th, 2024, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
A celebration of life will be held in Nova Scotia on Sunday, September 1st, 2024, from 2-4 p.m. (260 Main Street, Port Hood, NS).
Donations may be made directly to the Prince County Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Lung Association.
ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
