Obituary of Theresa Mary Yates
The death occurred at the Summerset Manor, on Monday, September 16, 2024, of Theresa Mary Yates (nee Doucette), of Summerside, aged 89 years.
Theresa was born in Tignish, PEI to her late parents George and Catherine (nee Gaudet) Doucette.
Beloved wife of the late Bruce Yates and loving mother of Cathy-Ann Yates of Summerside.
Survived by the following brothers and sisters: Josephine Arsenault of Nail Pond, Rosanna Blanchard of Wellington, Delima Wadman of O'Leary, Mary (Jack) Marks of Montreal, sister in-law Doreen Doucette of Montreal,step brother Vermore Doucette of Charlottetown and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her brothers Walter, Jerry and Joseph Doucette, sister Stella Laramie brother in-law Johnny Blanchard and a sister at birth.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd, Summerside until Thursday, September 19th, 2024, then to St. Paul’s Catholic Church for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery.
Donations in Theresa’s memory may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. By personal request there will be no visiting hours.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
