Extending my deepest condolences to you all at this very sad time. Vance welcomed me warmly to the church family some 40+ years ago... and continued to do so in all our encounters throughout the years. Such a gentleman, a pillar in the church and community and many other places. He will be truly missed but nowhere more than at the table and lives of his family. Sincere sympathy to all of you.

My most sincere sympathies to all of Vance's family. From getting to know him when I worked at Perkins Family Restaurant at the Linkletter in 1990 to my of times working in the school system and seeing him each year through the Easter Seals Campaign, Vance had a way of making others feel special through his great skill of knowing names, he was always interested in what was going on in your life and was always so happy to catch up. He built so many relationships and has made a difference in the lives of others in our community and the province as a whole. Vance was a mover and a shaker in our community, and indeed made our world a better place. Sincerely, Jacqueline Reeves

We went with Vance on one of his bus tours to the Tattoo in Halifax and since then he often checked in with us which was a sign of his kindness and consideration. On another occasion Gord volunteered in the kitchen at Trinity to peel and chop vegetables for a dinner and Vance asked him to cut the carrots on the bias and asked if he knew what that meant so it became their running joke - how do you cut carrots? He was definitely an involved person and cared about a lot of things and a lot of people. Rest n peace.

I am so sorry to read of Vance's passing & wish to convey my condolences to his family. Vance was always a true gentleman with such a great smile and was a sweet man. He always was up for a great lengthy conversation and so full of wisdom and spirit. I last saw him last summer at his Chuch during a music concert being held there and we, again, enjoyed a wonderful conversation. Please remember Vance for what he was, a very kind, friendly gentlemen who cared so much about others and his community.

My sympathy to Doug, Debbie and Matthew on the loss of your father/grandfather. I regularly saw Doug connected with the Rotary STRIVE Scholarship at CGHS, and the three of you used to be neighbors on Emerald Drive. Your Dad was such a prominent, well known and good man, who was giving to his church and community. May you hear many stories shared that can only add to your cherished memories of his life.

Doug,
I was so sorry to hear of your dad's passing on the weekend.
I had many, many times had the chance to spend time with him at functions or my fave times, on the bus at Easter Seals School Tours.
He was always bursting with smiles, sharing with those around him and all the while sharing true community spirit.
I, like so many will miss but cherish the memories and I hope you find comfort in having a great man, as a dad.

I first met Vance Bridges in 1994 while working as a Guest Instructor at the APA from the Halifax Police Department. It was strongly suggested that I should join the Summerside Rotary Club by the Director of the APA who wanted to take a break from his involvement.
My sponsor was Tammy Waugh who worked at the Selmon Park Corporation where the APA had been relocated from Holland College in Charlottetown.
Mr Bridges was certainly very community minded and lived the principles of Rotary, “Service Above Self”! May He Rest in Peace!

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
