Obituary of Anita O'Connor

Peacefully at Toronto, Ontario on Saturday, September 21, 2024, Anita O’Connor of Toronto, at the age 94 years. Anita was born on February 19, 1930, in Sherbrooke, Prince Edward Island to her late parents J. Edward and Mary (nee MacNeill) Laughlin.

Beloved wife of the late George and loving mother of Mary-Ruth Sturch of Oshawa Ontario and Paul O’Connor of Barrie Ontario. Survived by her brothers. Urban (Mary) and Allison both of Sherbrooke. Survived by her sisters-in-law Gertrude Gerard of Barrie Ontario and Agnes Laughlin of Brantford, Ontario. Anita will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Logan and Emma Still-O’Connor and Michael Sturch, and great-granddaughter Reece Sturch as well as nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Anita was pre-deceased by her brothers Errol and Edward, sisters Claire, Teresa and Helen and brothers-in-law and sisters-in law, Frank, Mary Foley, Alice Foley, Helen Toye. Roland, Leo and Cyril.

Anita spent her life caring about and helping others. Throughout her nursing career and as a founder, board chair and executive director for many organizations, she was able to make a difference in the lives of both the young and seniors, who were close to her heart.

Resting at NEWEDIUK FUNERAL HOME, KIPLING CHAPEL, 2058 Kipling Avenue (North of Rexdale Boulevard), Toronto, on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Benedict Church, 2194 Kipling Avenue, on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held in Prince Edward Island  on Wednesday October 2nd, 2024 from 12-2 p.m. at the East Prince Funeral Home 245 Pope Rd. Summerside followed by the interment in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Alberton PEI. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
