Obituary of Joe Gaudet
The death occurred peacefully at the South Shore Villa, Crapaud, PEI on Saturday September 28th, 2024 of Joseph Andrew “½ Day Joe” of Crapaud and formerly of Miscouche, PEI, aged 85years. Joe was born in Miscouche to the late Anthony and Eliza (Gallant) Gaudet.
Survived by his brothers and sisters Rose (Gary) Acheson, Delima Vatamaniuck, Martin, Edie (Wayne) MacDonald, Linda Sterling, sister in-law Marjorie Gaudet, brother in-law Jim Wyatt and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his brothers and sisters Nell (Carl) Fitzpatrick, Ida (Lou) Croken, Edna (Fred) Haining, Clarence, Leo, Lorraine Wyatt, Clifford and Loretta Gaudet.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Thursday October 3rd, 2024, where the funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment to take place in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Miscouche. Memorial donations in Joe’s memory can be made directly to St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Visiting hours on Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until time of service.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
