Obituary of Stanley Palmer
The death occurred peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown, PEI, on Wednesday, October 16th, 2024 of Harold “Stanley” Palmer of Summerside, aged 85 years. Stanley was born in Kensington, PEI, to the late Harold and Mary (Caseley) Palmer.
Beloved husband of Marie (Gallant) Palmer and loving father of Donnie, David, Darlene (Hazen) MacKenzie, Darrell (Michelle), Dwayne (Angie), Dianne (Ryan) Lowther, Doug (Jenn) and Daniel (Jolina). Also lovingly remembered by his 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Survived by his sister Betty Woodside, brother Ronnie and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his brother Bert and son Dean in infancy.
Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside, until Thursday October 24th, where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 10:00 a.m. Interment to take place in People’s Cemetery, Kensington. Memorial donations in Stanley’s memory can be made directly to the PEI Alzheimer’s Society. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 4 -6 p.m.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
