Obituary of Ellery George MacKay
The death occurred peacefully at Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Monday, November 18th, 2024, of Ellery George MacKay of Summerset Manor and formerly of New Annan, PEI, aged 90 years. Ellery was born in New Annan, PEI to his late parents David and Robina MacKay. Beloved husband of Doris (Wall) MacKay and loving father of Martin (Kathy) MacKay, Mary MacKay and Lisa MacKay (Joe Nicholson)
Also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Skyler MacKay and Dakota (Cassandra) MacKay and great grandchildren, Alexa MacKay and Anderson MacKay (Anderson was raised by Ellery and Doris).
Survived by the following brother and sisters: Helen Dawson (Myron -deceased), Bruce (Mary) both deceased, Frances (Harold) Paynter, both deceased, John, Reginald (Faye), Jean (Gerald) MacAusland, both deceased, Rita Annand, Edgar (deceased), Edith, Eldon (Marjorie), Ralph and James.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, with a private family visitation to be held.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
