Obituary of Richard Lea Howatt

The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital on Saturday, December 14th, 2024 of Richard Lea Howatt, of Tryon, PE, aged 76 years.
Richard Lea was born in Summerside to the late Richard Lea and Marguerite Howatt.
Beloved husband of the late Ethel Howatt and loving father of Marie (Peter) Bean, Jonathan (Holly), Robert Nelson, Tammy (Michaël) Langevin, and Connie Howatt (Mark).
Also lovingly remembered by grandchildren Brennan, Skye, Tyler, Logan, Owen, Abby, Kara, Joey, Jayden, and Étiene. Will be missed by several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Survived by his sister Catherine Ann (Jim) Dickson, brothers-in-law Gary Costain and Albert Hickox and sister-in-law Linda Howatt.
Predeceased by his sisters Clara Costain and Heather Hickox, brother Gordie Howatt, and his son in infancy Richard Lea Howatt.
Richard Lea was the social butterfly of the family. He enjoyed being out and about with family and his friends from The Wing. He especially looked forward to Christmas so he could dress up as Santa Claus and visit folks spreading cheer! If Richard Lea couldn’t find fun, you could count on him to make fun happen. Richard Lea and his zest for life will be missed by many near and far.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside. A Celebration of Life Service for Richard Lea will take place at the Wing 329 North Market St, Summerside, on Friday, December 20th, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Family and friends are welcome to attend. Please note that due to the venue's policy, attendees must be 19 years or older.
A graveside service will be held at People’s Cemetery, Tryon at a later date.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
