Obituary of Sadie Louise Oatway
The death occurred peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, PEI on Tuesday December 31, 2024 of Sadie Louise (Munro) Oatway of Summerside, aged 86 years. Sadie was born in Dauphin, Manitoba to the late Dan Wesley “Wes” and Mary (Miller) Munro.
Beloved wife of 68 years to Sterling Oatway and loving mother of Debbie (Wendell) McDowell, Patricia (Raymond), Jennifer (Ray) Pilon, Margaret (Roger) Wells and Garth. Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren BJ, Sarah, Jeffery, Pascal, Jessie, Jenn, Clinton, Soleil, Mitchell, Jorel, Nicholas, Cassandra, Olivia and Madalynn, great grandchildren Harper, Vayda, Connor, Abbi, Oaklyn and Rae.
Survived by her brother Arnold Munro, sister Grace Zurba and their family and sister in-law Arlene Oatway.
Predeceased by her parents in-law Mark and Marion (Milligan) Oatway, brothers and sisters in-law Suinn Munro, Nellie and John Ramsay, Foster and Betty Oatway, Hazel and Harry Ramsay, Fannie Wagner, Douglas, Lawson, Della, Clifford and Harry Oatway.
Sadie grew up on the farm near Fork River, Manitoba in the R.M. of Mossey River. She attended Mowat School, Dauphin Collegiate in Dauphin and Little’s Business College. Worked in Winnipeg where she met Sterling who was from PEI. They married and moved back to PEI where they resided with his parents in Freeland, PEI. They moved to Summerside in May of 1960 and have resided since.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd, Summerside until Saturday, January 4th, 2025 where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment to take place in the Freeland Presbyterian Cemetery, Freeland. Donations in Sadie’s memory may be made directly to Canadian Liver Foundation or the PCH Dialysis Unit. Visiting hours on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
