Obituary of George McKenna
The death occurred at his late residence on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 of George McKenna of Middle Sackville N.S. and formerly of Newton, P.E.I aged 73 years. George was born in Summerside P.E.I to his late parents Emmett & Mary (Murtagh) McKenna. Beloved husband of Karen McKenna and loving father of Jason (Hailey Stapleton) and Wendy (Bobby Dowling). Loving Papa of Owen, Cole, and Claire Dowling.
Survived by his brothers Robert (Joy) McKenna of Newton and Raymond McKenna of Miscouche, his sisters in law Pauline (David- Deceased) Blacquiere, Brenda (Leo Leblanc), Nancy (Leonard) Coombs, Dianne Gaudet and brothers in-law Kenneth and Richard Gaudet and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his brother David Mckenna, sisters in-law Betty (Leo Poirier), Linda (Dale Yeo), brothers in-law Eddie and John Gaudet, parents in-law Peter and Marguerite Gaudet.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside, PEI until Wednesday January 8, 2025 then to St. Paul's Church for a funeral mass 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 4 - 7 p.m

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
