Lorraine Royston

Obituary of Lorraine Patricia Royston

Lorraine Patricia Royston (née Bosch) passed away peacefully on January 13th, 2025 at Community Hospital O’Leary, PEI. Rapid and aggressive lung and brain cancer prompted her transition into palliative care. She did not want to depart this life and fought admirably for many days while her loved ones remained by her side offering their love and comfort. She is now at peace.

Lorraine was born in Oyen, Alberta in 1957, the eldest of Kathryn Naud and Phillip Bosch’s four children. She graduated as a Registered Nursing Assistant in 1978. Nine years later she gave birth to her son Royce who she cherished until the day she died. In 1995 she earned a post-graduate Diploma Certificate in Museum Management and Curatorship from Sir Sandford Fleming College in Peterborough. After working as a Records Control Clerk in Halifax, Nova Scotia for three and a half years, she moved back to Ontario in 2000 and secured a position as a document management analyst at the Region of Waterloo where she worked until her retirement. Always one to lend a helping hand, Lorraine was an avid community volunteer. She taught art classes, fundraised for the Peterborough Centennial Museum & Archives, coached Tykes baseball, and was a Cub Leader and Group Committee Chair for ScoutsCanada. She also loved quilting, angels and gardening. In 2002, Lorraine married Richard “Rick” Royston in an elegant backyard ceremony at their home in Kitchener, Ontario. Years later the couple retired to their oceanside dream home in Union Corner, PEI, which brought her immense joy and peace.

Predeceased by her parents and her brother Doug Bosch, Lorraine is survived by her beloved husband Rick, son Royce Piels (Michelle) and granddaughter Faye, and stepson Paul McIntyre Royston (Christine) and granddaughters Avery, Adelaide, Arleigh, Aoife and Astrid; her dear brothers Dave Bosch (Pam) and Murray James-Bosch (Sibernie) and her many nieces and nephews. Sweet Lorraine will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she has touched, especially by family and friends. She has gifted us with a legacy of love, compassion, beauty and resilience.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, January 18th at 1:30 PM at East Prince Funeral Home Chapel, 245 Pope Road, in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. A Celebration of life for Lorraine’s Ontario family and friends will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to please make a donation to MADD Canada in Lorraine’s memory at https://madd.ca/donation/donation-english.html

The family would like to thank the staff at Community Hospital O’Leary for their compassionate care of our Lorraine in her final hours.
