Obituary of Pineau, Vernon Joseph
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and pépe, Vernon Joseph Pineau, aged 85 years.
He was born in Summerside to Peter and Rosella Pineau. Beloved husband of 62 years to Marion (MacDougall) Pineau. Loving father of Karen, Lana (Brian) Parker, Jim (Michelle), Steve, Phil (Andrea) and Corey.
Cherished pépe of Nicholas and Christopher Carota, Lacey, Emily, Ben and Jill Parker, Stephanie, Alex, Lauren and Matt Pineau, Andy Corcoran, and Sascha Pineau. Special great-pépe to Carlos Carota and Charlee and Randi-Lynn Parker.
Vern is survived by brothers Ivan (Leona - deceased), Earl (Ricki) and Doug (Louise - deceased) and by his sister Cindy (Sandy) Duff and by brothers and sisters-in-law, Marie Arsenault, Doris (Earl - deceased) Maynard, Clifford (Marlene), Carl (Debbie), Lee (Cathy), Ruth (Bill) Clarke, Bruce (Nancy).
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his grandson Alex (in infancy), daughter-in-law Barb Eye, siblings Bernadette Gallant (Edmond), Evelyn (Alfred) Burke, Theresa (Phil) Malone, Clarice (Greg) Buteau, Ronnie and Eugene and by sister-in-law Sharon MacDougall.
Survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends and by special family friend Jane Eye.
As a young man he owned and operated a small grocery store on Convent St. in Summerside. He worked for Robinson's and Lane's bakeries, then for Lowney's candy corporation. In the mid 70's was hired by the Olympic Lottery Corporation and retired from The Atlantic Lottery Corporation in 1998.
Dad was fiercely loyal to his family, his country, his province and to his Acadian roots and his Montreal Canadiens. He was a dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Air Force Association and St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church. He loved collecting antiques, coins, and stamps and loved our large Pineau and MacDougall family gatherings.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside. Due to COVID-19 funeral arrangements to be announced at a later date, interment in St. Paul's Cemetery, Summerside. Memorial donations in Vernon's Memory to Community Connection or the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
