Obituary of Arsenault, Marie "Elva"
With much sorrow and deep sadness in our hearts, we the family of the late Marie "Elva" (Gallant) Arsenault of Le Chez Nous, Wellington and formerly of Miscouche, announce her death which occurred at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Sunday March 27th, 2022, aged 87 years. Elva was born in Abrams-Village to the late Joseph C. and Edna (Arsenault) Gallant. Beloved wife of the late Alfred Arsenault and loving mother of Earl deceased (Donalda Wood), Melvin (deceased Linda Graham), Allan (Marguerite), Theresa (Robert) Landry, Helen (Michael) Lucker and Denise Arsenault. She will be sadly missed by her four grandchildren Jennifer, Julie, Ethain and Avery. She was also the very happy and proud "old mémé" to her four great granddaughters April, Abbygail, Camille and Penny. Survived by Earl's stepson Tristan and his daughter Madisen.
Elva will long be remembered by her brothers and sisters Peter (Donna), Leonce, Louise Blanchard, Helen Trembley, Yvonne Power, Lucie Chabot, her brothers and sisters in-law, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her brothers and sisters Edward (Nora), Edmond (Angela), Sr. Anna Gallant, Alice (Pierre) Chabot, brothers in-law Douglas Blanchard, Julien Tremblay, Garth Powers and Lucien Chabot.
Elva was a very active member of St. John the Baptist Parish where she served as Eucharistic Minister and reader. She was also a very active member of the Miscouche Council of the C.W.L. having served as President for a member of years.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside where a funeral mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Church, Miscouche on Thursday March 31st, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. (150 people maximum). Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations in Elva's memory to St. John the Baptist Cemetery would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. (100 maximum).

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
