Obituary of Doucette, Jean Marie
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Friday, May 24th , 2019 of Jean Marie Doucette (nee Gaudet) of Summerside, P.E.I, aged 85 years. Jean was born in Mont Carmel, P.E.I. to her late parents John and Lorraine (nee Poirier) Gaudet.
Beloved wife of Ernest Doucette and loving mother of Gary (Dianne) of Summerside, Wayne (Linda) of Summerside, Alan (Jodi) of Calgary, AB., Blair (Georgia) of Oakville, ON., Gwen Murray (Todd) of Summerside, and Darlene MacCormack of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by her 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Survived by her sisters Marie Doucette of Summerside, Marion Boudreau and Melvina Boudreau of Summerside, and Dorothy Fry of Miscouche.
Besides her parents Jean was predeceased by her son Ron and her brother Cyril Gaudet.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Monday, May 27th then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Memorial donations in Jean's memory to St. Paul's Church Cemetery Fund or the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated. By personal request there will be a private family visitation only.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
