Obituary of Gallant, Edna Mary
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Monday, April 22nd, 2019 of Edna Mary Gallant of Summerside, aged 90 years. Edna was born in Piusville, P.E.I. to the late Henry and Maryann Gallant.
Beloved wife of the late Everett Gallant and loving mother of Dennis (Gloria), Maria (Robert) Gallant, Sheila (Donnie) Perry, Elaine Gallant, Nancy (Nelson) MacKinnon, Ivan (Vivian), Brian (Andrea Pickett), Dwayne (Denise) and daughter-in-law Nancy Williams. Also lovingly remembered by her 19 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Survived by her brother brush cut Ben Gallant, sisters-in-law Mary and Theresa Gallant and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her son Austin, brothers and sisters Josie, Rose, Louise, Paul, Evelyn, Alyre, Wilfred and Oscar.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Thursday, April 25th, 2019 then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations in Edna's memory to St. Paul's Cemetery would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Wednesday evening from 6 - 9 p.m.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
