Obituary of DesRoches, Mary "Zita"
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her loving family at the Summerset Manor, Summerside, P.E.I. on Saturday, September 1st, 2018 of Mary "Zita" DesRoches (nee Arsenault) of Summerside and formerly of Miscouche, P.E.I. aged 96 years. Zita was born in Tignish, P.E.I. to her late parents Fred and Judith Arsenault.
Beloved wife of the late Agape DesRoches and loving mother of Judy (Robert) Baglole of Summerside, Stanley of Miscouche, Fred (Diane) of Edmonton, AB., and Dennis of Edmonton, AB. Survived by her sister Bena Blanchard of Hamilton, ON., her daughter-in-law Linda DesRoches of Slemon Park, her 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and her parents, Zita was predeceased by the following brothers and sisters: Doris, John, Albert, Edward, Gerald, Antoinette, Ernest, and Alfreda.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Thursday, September 6th, then to St. John the Baptist Church, Miscouche for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Memorial donations in Zita's memory to C.N.I.B. would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Wednesday evening, 6 - 8 p.m.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
