Obituary of Hinchey, Raymond E.
The death occurred peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer at the Prince County Hospital on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 of Rev. Raymond E. Hinchey of Borden-Carleton, PE aged 76 year. Beloved husband of Debbe Bridges Hinchey. Born in Fredericton, NB on September 4, 1941 to the late Raymond E & Florence C. Hinchey (Howe).
Loving father of Jeffery Hinchey (Leslie) Richmond, Va., Shawn Hinchey (Brenda), Fredericton, NB, Pam Redden (Troy) Coldbrook, NS and step-father to Melanie Champion, Montrose, PE and Marilee Reeves (Eustie) Kensington, PE. Loving grandfather to Josh Hinchey (Dellarae), Edmonton, AB, Corey Hinchey, Halifax, NS, Alex Hinchey, Edmonton, AB, Aiden J. Redden, Coldbrook, NS, Jesse Champion, Montrose, PE, Emilee and Bret Reeves, Kensington, PE and great-grandfather to Jared, Xavier and Oaklyn Hinchey, Edmonton, AB. He will be also be missed by his nieces and nephews. Survived by sisters, Phyllis (Danny) Morrison, Truro, NS and Barbara Mueller, Saint John, NB.
Predeceased by sisters, Edith, Marjorie, Alice, Betty, Elsie and brother Francis. Lovingly remembered by his father-in-law Winfred Bridges and his wife Florence, sisters and brother-in-laws, Willow (Merl) Blanchard, Duane (Hazel) Bridges, Bonnie (Blaine) Brennan, Neil (Deidre)Bridges, and Joel (Kia) Bridges.
From an early age Ray held different positions within the New Brunswick Government. Ray enjoyed being a member of the Alexandria Lodge in Fredericton, NB. In 1982, he received a call for full-time ministry and served as a Captain in the Salvation Army in Spryfield and Yarmouth, NS. In 1987, Ray became an Elder with the Church of the Nazarene and ministered in Elmsdale, PE, Truro, NS, Stettler, AB, Sault Ste. Marie, ON., Summerside, PE, Fredericton, NB and Kensington, PE. He was also a piano tuner for many years. Ray expressed his love of life through his music, gardening and meeting people. Dear to Ray's heart was his love of dogs and playing stringed instruments. He had a God given compassion for others; especially the incarcerated and homeless. He loved the fall season, especially marshes, fall leaves and sunsets. He saw God's hand in his work, his family, his neighbors, all children and appreciated each day as a gift. Ray's Irish roots enhanced this ability to enjoy good food, a good story and a good laugh.
There will be no visiting hours as per Ray's request. A celebration of his life will be held Monday, January 22, 2018 at 2p.m. at the Summerside Church of the Nazarene. Interment at a later date. In memory of Ray, donations may be made to the Prince County Hospital Foundation.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
