Obituary of Doucette, Mary "Marlene"
The death occurred peacefully with family by her side at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Monday, November 6th, 2017 of Mary "Marlene" (nee Gallant) Doucette of Summerside, aged 61 years.
Marlene was the daughter of the late Cletus and Mary (nee Arsenault) Gallant. Beloved wife of the late Philip Doucette and loving mother of Jennifer (Christopher) Vriends and Nicholas (Stacey) Doucette. Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Alyssa and Brody Vriends and Everly Doucette.
Survived by her sisters Linda (Pat) Pickett, Summerside, Diane (George) Andrews, London, ON., Anna Wheatley and Sharon (Raymond) Wiswell all of Dartmouth, NS., her mother in-law Theresa Doucette, Tignish and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and her parents, Marlene was predeceased by her father in-law Henry Doucette.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Friday, November 10th, then to St. John the Baptist, Miscouche for a funeral mass at 2:30 p.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Memorial donations in Marlene's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or Palliative Care Unit Prince County Hospital would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Thursday evening only, from 6 - 9 p.m.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
