Obituary of Doucette, Catherine Ann
The death occurred peacefully with her loving husband by her side at Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Wednesday, September 27th, 2017 of Catherine Ann (nee Ryan) Doucette of Summerside, P.E.I., aged 70 years. Catherine was born in Pembroke, ON. to her late parents James and Dora (nee Romain) Ryan.
Beloved wife of Kenneth Doucette and loving mother of Judy (Shaun) Matheson and Beverly (Adam) Saunders. Also lovingly remembered by her 3 grandchildren Joshua Matheson, Brooke and Pierce Saunders and several nieces and nephews.
Survived by her brothers and sisters Pat (Marilyn) Ryan, Joan (Eric) Baker, Joe Ryan and Gerald Ryan.
Besides her parents, Catherine was predeceased by her daughter Nancy Doucette, brothers Tom and Michael Ryan.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Monday, October 2nd, then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Donations in Catherine's memory to the Palliative Care Unit Prince County Hospital would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Sunday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Royal Canadian Legion Branch #18, Miscouche will hold a Legion service on Sunday evening at 6:45 p.m.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
