Obituary of Coughlin, Gilmore
The death occurred peacefully with family by his side at Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Sunday, August 20th, 2017 of Gilmore Coughlin of Summerside, aged 77 years. Gilmore was born in Cascumpec, P.E.I. to the late Charles and Lorena Coughlin.
Beloved husband of Rose (nee Hashie) Coughlin and his first wife the late Marjorie Coughlin. Loving father of Kenneth (Brenda), Jennifer Wade, Lowell, Norma (Kevin) Simpson, Everett (Cassandra), Glen (Latoya), stepfather of Alfred (Shirley) Bernard, Darlene (Kenneth) Lewis, Sharon (Paul) Lynch, David, Kevin, Elmer (deceased). Also lovingly remembered by his 27 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Survived by the following brothers and sister Bannie (Freda), Jessie (Diann), Naomi (Virden) Robinson, sisters in-law Olive and Joan Coughlin, brothers in - law Raymond and Urban Hashie and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gilmore was predeceased by his sister Lucy Smith, brothers Kenneth (Jenny), William, Alvin, Everett, Russell, sister and brothers in-law Anna Hashie, Clarence, Johnny, Alfred and Joseph Hashie.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside. By personal request there will be no funeral service held. Interment will take place in People's Cemetery on Thursday August 24th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Gilmore's memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Wednesday evening from 6 - 9 p.m.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
