Obituary of Townsend, Edith Jeannette
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Monday, May 8th, 2017 of Edith Jeannette (nee MacKay) Townsend of Summerside, aged 74 years. Edith was born in Summerside to the late Harry and Mable (nee Wilson) MacKay.
Beloved wife of Fred Townsend and loving mother of Steven (Kim), Kimberly (Sean) Deagle, Chris (Cindy) and Ryan. Also lovingly remembered by her 6 grandchildren Mitchell (Taylor), Mark (Sarah), Chad (Ben), Lance, Charlie and Maddix, 3 great grandchildren Sydney, Emmerson and Eli.
Survived by her brothers and sisters Doug (Linda), Wayne (Barb), Joyce (Leigh) Craig, Keith (Trina), Basil, Garth, Allison and Juanita Brooking.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Friday, May 12th, where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:30 p.m. Interment to take in People's Cemetery, Summerside. Memorial donations in Edith's memory to the Funeral Fund would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Thursday evening, from 6 - 8 p.m.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
