Obituary of Olscamp, Marie "Rita"
The death occurred peacefully at the Mount Continuing Care Facility, Charlottetown P.E.I. on Monday, May 1st, 2017 of Marie "Rita" Olscamp (nee Gallant) of Charlottetown and formerly of Summerside, aged 95 years. Rita was born in Summerside to her late parents Fred and Eva Gallant.
Beloved wife of 73 years to George Olscamp and loving mother of David (Mary), Lynda Fitzgerald (Gerald), John, Judy Driscoll (John), and Paul (Valerie). Also lovingly remembered by her 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Survived by her sisters: Mary Lavergne (Bill) of Grand-Mere, QC. and Margaret Kelly (Al) of British Columbia and her brother-in-law John Olscamp of New York.
Besides her parents, Rita was predeceased by her brothers Elmer and Alfred, her sisters Doris, Anna, Irene and Frances and her daughter-in-law Joan-Ann Olscamp.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Thursday, May 4th, then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Memorial donations in Rita's memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Wednesday evening from 5 - 8 p.m. Members of St. Paul's Church C.W.L. will hold a prayer service at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon at 4:45 p.m.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
