Obituary of Gautreau, Narcisse Joseph
The death occurred peacefully at the Summerset Manor, Summerside, P.E.I., on Sunday, September 25th, 2016 of Narcisse Joseph Gautreau of Summerside, P.E.I., aged 90 years. Narcisse was born in Shediac, NB to his late parents Albinie and Felina (Nee Donnelle) Gautreau.
Beloved husband of the late Anita (nee Cormier) Gautreau and loving father of Roy (deceased), Normand (Ginny), Eldon (Pauline), Daniel, Mona (Eldon) Arsenault, Rachel (Pierre) Gautreau, Noella (Leo Bastarache) and special friend Marie DesRoches. Also lovingly remembered by 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Rita Gautreau, Doreen Gautreau, Eva (Leo) Richard, Marc (Doris) Cormier, Yvonne (Adelard) Pitre, Aline LeBlanc, Yvon (Yvette) Cormier, Albert Cormier, Fr. Eddie Cormier, Brenda Bernard.
Besides his parents and wife, Narcisse was predeceased by his granddaughter Tess Gautreau; brothers and sisters Marie, Louise, Fred, Frank and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Gerald LeBlanc, Leo (Therese) Cormier, Marie-Anne (Jeb) Campbell and Louis Cormier.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Friday, September 30th, for a funeral in the funeral home chapel at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the St. Phillip and St. Jacques Church Cemetery, Egmont-Bay. Memorial donations in Narcisse's memory to the Summerset Manor or the Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Thursday, 6 - 8 p.m. The Knights of Columbus will hold a Prayer Service at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
