Obituary of Gallant, Joseph "Roderick"
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Thursday, January 7th , 2016 of Joseph "Roderick" Gallant of Miscouche, aged 79 years. Roderick was born in St. Chrysostome, P.E.I. to his late parents Archie and Aline (nee Arsenault) Gallant.
Beloved husband of Melina (nee Caissie) Gallant and loving father of Ivan (Nancy) of Summerside, Sandra Royer (Yvan) of Miscouche, Monica Poirier (Tony) of Miscouche, Janet Gaudet (David) of Charlottetown, and Mike (Giselle) of Travellers Rest. Also lovingly remembered by his 14 grandchildren: Joel, Jared, Jacob, Kyle, Greg, Jamie, Richard, Daniel, Marie-Josee, Nigel, Devan, Chrystal, Matthew and Daniel. Survived by his brother Vincent of Miscouche, his sister Geralda Arsenault (Ralph Dawson) of Wellington and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Roderick was predeceased by his sisters Faustina Arsenault and Isabelle Owen.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Monday, January 11th, then to St. John the Baptist Church, Miscouche for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations in Roderick's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 5, Summerside will hold a Service of Remembrance at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
