Obituary of Warkentin, Peter
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Tuesday, December 22nd, 2015 of Peter Warkentin of Clermont, P.E.I., aged 88 years. Peter was born in Morden, Manitoba to his late parents Jacob and Mary (nee Penner) Warkentin.
Beloved partner of Karen DeCoste of Summerside and loving father of Paula Heinz, Terry Warkentin, Wendy (Lionel) Carter all of Ontario and Carla (Robert) Arsenault of Kensington, P.E.I. Also lovingly remembered by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Survived by his sisters Betty Frado and Laura Ciampini of Ontario.
Besides his parents, Peter was predeceased by his wife Bernice (nee Collette) Warkentin and his son John.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Thursday, December 24th, where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in Floral Hill's Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Valley. Memorial donations in Peter's memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Wednesday evening only, 5 - 8 p.m..

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
