Obituary of DesRoches, Josephine Mary
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her loving family at the Wedgewood Manor, Summerside, P.E.I. on Tuesday April 7th, 2015 of Josephine Mary DesRoches (nee Arsenault) of Summerside, aged 96 years. Josephine was born in Palmer Road, P.E.I. to her late parents John and Judith (nee Gaudet) Arsenault.
Beloved wife of her first husband the late Peter Gaudet and her seconded husband the late Ernest DesRoches. Loving mother of Freddie of Tignish, Johnny (Maria), Ronald (Olivine), and Julia (Bob) Woods all of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Survived by her sisters Hilda DesRoches and Eva Bernard of Tignish.
Besides her parents and husbands, Josephine was predeceased by her son Bobby, two grandsons Wayne and Johnny Gaudet, daughter-in-law Geraldine, brothers and sisters Jane, Bella, Louise, Amie, Eugene, Nelson, Aldon and Kate.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Saturday April 11th, then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations in Josephine's memory to the St. Paul's Cemetery Fund or the Wedgewood Manor Fund would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Friday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
