Obituary of Stewart, Claude Samuel
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summeride, P.E.I. on Monday, March 16th , 2015 of Claude Samuel Stewart of Borden-Carleton, P.E.I., aged 80 years. Claude was born in Borden-Carleton to his late parents John and Purdie (nee Baglole) Stewart.
Beloved husband of the late Shirley (nee Burke Dawson) Stewart and loving father of Eric (Vicky), Robert (Dianna), Wilma Stewart all of Borden-Carleton and Carl of Ottawa, ON. . Also lovingly remembered by his 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law June Cameron of Summerside and Karen-Lynne Stewart and Bessie Paynter of Borden-Carleton.
Besides his wife and parents, Claude was predeceased by his son Owen and brothers & sisters.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Friday, March 20th where a funeral service will take place in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 PM. Interment to take place in the Cape Traverse United Church Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Claude's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated. By personal request there will be no visiting hours held.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
