Obituary of MacKinnon, Myrtle Belle
The death occurred peacefully at the Margaret Stewart Ellis Home, O'Leary, P.E.I. on Thursday, September 11th, 2014 of Myrtle Belle MacKinnon (nee Milligan) of Tyne Valley and formerly of Portage, aged 84 years. Myrtle was born in Springhill, P.E.I. to her late parents Bowman and Olive (nee Grigg) Milligan.
Beloved wife of the late Frank MacKinnon and loving mother of Joyce Ramsay of Arlington, Kelsey (Pam) of Tyne Valley and Reby MacKinnon of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by her 5 grandchildren Trevor (Elizabeth), Todd (Lori), Tasia, Adam, Mitchell, 2 great grandchildren Harrison, Jackson and several nieces and nephews.
Survived by her sister Bonnie Vezina of ON, brothers Chester (Eileen Green), Thane (Doreen Wood) both of Summerside and sisters-in-law Reby Milligan and Hattie MacKinnon. Besides her parents and husband, Myrtle was predeceased by her son-in-law Harry Ramsay; sisters Marion Gamble, Edith Rafferty, Robina Johnson, Marjorie MacDougall, Barb Noye, Dorothy Currie; brothers John "Tweet", Clare and Dewar Milligan.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Monday, September 15th, for a funeral service in the Bideford United Church, Bideford, P.E.I. at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Memorial donations in Myrtle's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the P.E.I. Lung Association would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Sunday evening only, 6 - 9 p.m. PLEASE NOTE CHANGE IN TIME.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
