Obituary of Gates, Eleanor Isabelle
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Saturday August 2nd, 2014 of Eleanor Isabelle (nee Phillips) Gates of St. Eleanor's, P.E.I., aged 95 years. Eleanor was born on June 19th, 1919 in Halifax, N.S. to her late parents William and Dorothea (nee Rodd) Phillips.
Loving mother of Barbara Mallory, Kingston, ON. and Joan (Ray) O'Brien, Margate. Beloved grandmother of Anne (Jeff) Moore and Sarah Mallory (Steve Timmerman), Kingston, ON., Paula Forbes (Tammy Sanders), Quispamsis, NB. and Jeremy (Colette) Forbes, Summerside. Cherished great-grandmother of Riley and Brin Forbes, Molly Kenny and Mallory Moore. Eleanor is survived by her caring siblings, Edna (late Archie) MacGregor, Halifax, NS., Carolyn (Gary) Ross, Ajax, ON. and Dr. Carlyle (Virginia) Phillips, Halifax, NS. and Stanley Bridge, her sister-in-law Caroline (late Dr. Ralph) Phillips, Halifax, NS., as well as her nieces, nephews and cousins, the Rodd and Phillips families. Remembered by Ron Mallory and Don Forbes, also the O'Brien family.
Besides her parents, Eleanor was predeceased by her precious daughter Beverley Elizabeth, brothers George (Nina), Dr. Ralph, Wendell (Ruth) and sister Gwendolyn (Thomas) Matthew, and Archie MacGregor.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Tuesday, August 5th, then to Trinity United Church, Summerside for a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment to take place in Lot 14 United Cemetery, Birch Hill. Memorial donations in Eleanor's memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Monday evening only 7 - 9 p.m.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
